ONTARIO, Ore., (CBS2) — A 20-year-old man led police on a high speed chase that spilled into two states and reached 100 miles per hour, the Washington County Sheriff's Office says.
The pursuit started early Monday evening near Midvale along Highway 95.
Police say they tried multiple times to pull the driver over and used spike strips to damage the front driver side outside of Weiser. The suspected driver, John Stramaglia, "made a sharp turn towards the deputy, hitting the front of the patrol car," police said in a news release.
The chase continued onto Highway 201 into Oregon where troopers there attempted to end the pursuit with a second set of spike strips. The vehicle eventually became disabled outside of Ontario.
Stramaglia was transferred to the Malheur County Jail for felony eluding and felony warrant out of Idaho. A passenger in the vehicle was not charged.
