BOI sets record number of travelers screened, finds interesting banned items in carry-on

The TSA in Boise reports screening a record high number of travelers screened on Sunday, which included finding some interesting items on the banned travel item list.

The record number of travelers in Boise comes as a record number of travelers have been screened across the country over the past month.TSA set a single day record nationally on Sunday, July 7, 2024, when 3,013,413 people were screened.

BOI screened a record high9,503 people through the security checkpoint, surpassing the previous record set a week earlier of9,467 people screened.

TSA reports finding several items on the banned travel list, many of which are common camping items including three axes and several canisters of propane camping fuel. The TSA even found a taser in one traveler's carry on luggage.

The TSA says that none of the passengers appeared connected and all willingly relinquished the items and were allowed to continue on their travels.
